Almost 100 acts make up the programme of the Festivities of San Bartolomé de Tejina Mayor José Alberto Díaz emphasises that “they are a sign of building citizenship, which represents the creativity and community sense that characterise residents.” The programme includes popular and traditional, religious, musical, sports and cultural events that will take place throughout the month of August and until September 2 that will conclude with the “Thunder and Heart of lights”. The Fiesta Commission of 2018 has set two goals: to reinforce and revalue those traditional acts on the one hand; and on the other hand, promote new values. “It is a party made by all the people,” said one of the organisers. Highlights include the offering to the Saint with the entrance of the Hearts to the Plaza de la Iglesia (Sunday, August 26th), the pyrotechnic exhibition from the Tejinetilla and the traditional fireworks (the night of Saturday, August 25th) and the Cabalgata de las Carrozas accompanied by bands and fanfares (the night of Thursday, August 23rd). The celebrations honour diversity and conservation, with no traditional beauty queen contests and a de-claration against any gender violence.
