New campaign on responsible use of video games

An awareness campaign has been launched among students and families about the responsible use of video games. Workshops are to be held in 20 educational centres across the Canaries as part of a pilot project. The twice-weekly sessions will include getting the children to enjoy 45 minutes of physical exercise and learning how to deal with the lure of video games, posture, emotion management and so on. The advice will also include tips on how to behave on the social networks. “The main idea of this combination of training workshops, with a session of physical activity and another of videogame training, is that the students associate all these activities and knowledge and get used to including them all in their lives,” said a spokesman for the Canary education service. The government says it wants to take a realistic attitude towares video games and esports because “they exist in the vast majority of houses and what we cannot do is turn our backs on them and that the students continue to ‘self-educate’, without help from their school or family.”
