A man has died after being rescued from the sea in Tenerife. The 49-year-old was spotted in distress in the water off El Pris in Tacoronte in the mid-afternoon. The 112 emergency control centre was told that people on the scene had rescued him from the sea when he got in to trouble when apparently swimming back to his boat. Police, the Canary Emergency Service and Civil Guard all attended and found the victim was in cardiopulmonary arrest. Police officers started resuscitation until the arrival of medics who took over with basic and then advanced manoeuvres but he could not be revived and was certified dead.
