The family of Yéremi Vargas who vanished from outside his home in Gran Canaria on March 10th, 2007 when he was just seven have paid an emotional tribute on what would have been his 19th birthday. His mother, Ithaisa Suárez, recalled this date with a moving letter she posted on the social networks to recall the happy moments they spent together. The post published on Facebook was accompanied by different images of the child, with his family, playing or hiking. “You grew up in the love of everyone,” she says. “You had everything you wanted. You caressed my hair and told me how much you loved me. We were so happy! Today you would be a man.” “I wish I could tell you so many things. I want this day to remember the good moments lived by your side. And wherever you are, you know that your family does not forget you. And that every day what I most want is to be able to get where you are.” Despite repeated appeals and new lines to follow up, the definitive explanation of what happened to Yeremi has never been solved. He had been playing outside his home in Vecindario. At one stage, a sex abuser in prisoner claimed responsibility. Also still missing from Gran Canaria is Sara Morales who disappeared shortly before Yeremi.
