The Government of the Canary Islands is preparing a new section of the global project ‘Vía Ciclista Lanzarote’ on the old northern highway that will have a preferential use for the cyclist. The work has been executed in the current service road that runs parallel to the LZ1, in a stretch of six kilometres, conditioned and marked as a bicycle route with preferential use for these users and speed restricted to 50 km/h for other vehicles. The Cabildo says it intends to study with the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) the possibility that during the weekend this route of service may be exclusive for cyclists.
